27th June 2024 – here we go again.

On the 27th April 2024 – 2 months ago today – Bristol Rovers played their final game of last season and to say that everything fizzled out in a disappointing way is an understatement. It was a huge anti-climax  from what seemed a promising season at the outset.

Back then, i recognised that that absence would make the heart grow stronger and experience told me that i would be back keen for the year ahead – and here I am.  I didnt want to return with the false hope that i got last year and actually prefer to be a little cynical about what lies ahead . There seem to be some bigger hitters than in previous years and we will need to be better than we were last year just to stand still.

One thing that life has taught me is that i am never alone when i feel certain things and so i suspect that there are other gashead coming out from their summer hibernation  for whom, the arrival of the new fixture list always heralds the start of the new campaign.

New signings are at last being announced and as the opening line of this piece said -” here we go again” . what are your hopes for the season ahead?
