The biggest Plus for me..
As we head into the weekend and Stockport away one overwhelming change has struck me about the group that wears the blue and white quarters and that is that we at last have a team that has character.
Against Northampton we kept going even when a goalless draw looked inevitably and got the win that we deserved.
Last saturday against Rotherham we showed a determination and never say die attitude that kept them out and head never dropped even when it looked inevitable that they were likely to score.
The third point which went over all of the matches so far- but in particular Tuesday – is the way we react to poor refereeing decisions . There is no mass dissent and petulance when things don’t go our way and we don’t have a manager that makes excuses .
It is true that we have players who have not yet hit form going forward and there is a feeling that this team as a whole can move on up through the gears as there is a lot more to come but teams with the character get points even when playing poorly. Remember that form is temporary but character is permanent .
So on we go to Stockport and I am not sure how that will go.
I do know that we will try hard and defend resiliently and I hope that the forwards who are slowly but surely getting matchfit will show up.
We should all feel reassured by the fact that we have managed to acquire 4 points from 2 games without playing at anything like full potential one day – sooner than later hopefully – we will discover what that is.
So good luck to all gasheads – players and fans alike .
Ps does anyone know what Billongo is doing in this photo ? He has taken this position just before the match started against the Cobblers and against the Millers so it is probably a religious thing . strange that no-one else has commented on it .
